ReZonance

ReZonance A grassroot, participatory media Projects, equipment, spaces for individual and collective expression, to create, experiment, showcase, and make voices heard… together. Since its creation in 2011, the association has been contributing to the development of a community-based information society, centered on meetings and exchanges with the local community in all its diversity. ReZonance is committed to supporting as many people as possible in expressing their differences, highlighting their diverse perspectives, facilitating collective creations and creating social connections through participatory audiovisual projects. Believing that community media play a positive role in fostering social cohesion, the association promotes public engagement and participation at the local, regional, and international levels through the use of audiovisual tools. Drawing on experience with different audiences, local authorities, and organizations in the social and solidarity economy sector, the association uses video and sound to generate meaningful dynamics between citizens. Above all, it is a welcoming and supportive space that facilitates expression as well as coconstructed and collective participatory productions. With no conditions or prerequisites, anyone can freely create articles, films, radio broadcasts, or visual programs. Here, there are no professional journalists or editors: the participants who propose content are citizens, local stakeholders, or residents. As a participatory media, reZonance focuses on using participatory audiovisual tools as a non-formal education method to achieve : • Non-formal education on all topics, in line with the French “éducation populaire” movement, with a focus on societal issues impacting our local communities especially, to foster a citizens’ dialogue and facilitate participants’ self and collective expression; • Education to media and information, with a focus on digital literacy in a constantly evolving audiovisual landscape. The association welcomes and supports participants without any restrictions with all their own ideas, projects and wishes related to audiovisual creations (i.e. technical advice, trainings, feedback on scripts and scenarii, lending material like cameras and microphones, providing facilities at its own recording studio). ReZonance also develops its own targeted projects to address specific topics or give a voice to specific target groups: Mediapop is one of them, an initiative that has been running for years now and focusing on youth self- and collective expression through audiovisual participatory tools.
