Application form

”“The purpose of the network is to work together to redesign (reset) the cultural and media landscape in Europe and beyond around the shared values of pluralism, diversity, equality and sustainability, in an inclusive and circular economy.”

Reset! brings together a large range of diverse cultural and media organisations committed to supporting independence, freedom of expression, diversity, inclusion, and sustainable development.

The network members are divided in 3 categories:

For independent cultural and media actors

This category constitutes the majority of the network and is the only category with voting rights, including for the election of the Executive Committee and for any other votes regarding the network’s overall direction.

To fall under this category, a member must:

  • Be an organisation with a legal status (association, NGO, cooperative, private enterprise).
  • Have its core activities dedicated to the media and cultural sectors (including all forms of artistic expression such as architecture, cultural heritage, design, fashion design, literature, music, performing arts, or visual arts).
  • Be independent, defined as a state of being autonomous, not reliant upon private corporations or larger consortiums (not being owned by another organisation), and not subject to the direct oversight of public authorities (no local, regional, or national public body exerting undue control).

For resource structures

This category comprises expert organisations focusing on key contemporary topics or precise sectors and/or countries, helping Reset!’s positions to evolve and improve in these specific areas.

As they do not necessarily comply with the independent organisations category, these members do not have the right to vote. However, they do need to comply with the Reset! Values to join the nework.

These members may include:

  • Think tanks
  • Research centres
  • National networks of independent cultural and media actors (outside of Reset!)
  • International cultural networks (outside of Reset!)

For local public institutions

This category includes local public institutions, helping Reset! to build bridges between the authorities and independent cultural and media organisations, improving recognition, visibility, and collaboration. They are expected to experiment with the proposals of independent players in their territory.

As they do not comply with the independent organisations category, these members do not have the right to vote. However, they do need to comply with the Reset! Values to join the network.

These members may include:

  • Local public authorities such as municipalities
  • Public universities

  • Weekly publications exploring the independent cultural and media sectors in Europe
  • Monthly newsletters sharing the network’s and its members’ news as well as insights on how European independent cultural and media organisations face today’s challenges
  • In-depth research to grasp the meanings and challenges of culture and media independence
  • Contribute by writing an article for the weekly publications or by being interviewed for the Reset! monthly newsletter

  • Online empowering sessions with experts based on members’ needs and current challenges with the Reset! Toolbox
  • Pedagogic podcasts deepening the Toolbox topics
  • Capacity building activities during Meet Reset! events and Reset! Forums

Advocacy

How can you join the Reset! network?

To join Reset!, you must agree with the network’s values and submit an application via the Reset! website. This involves filling in a form detailing your organisation’s activities and values, your motivation for joining the network, and how you meet the membership criteria.

The following process is then applied to each application:

  1. The Executive Committee meets to review applications and make decisions based on the membership criteria. Approval of a new member requires a majority vote (at least six votes).
  2. Approved applicants have to participate in an introduction call with the Reset! coordination team to validate their application. This is an opportunity to present the Reset! network, its values, and its activities. This ensures a full understanding of what the Reset! network is and what it means to become a member (active participation, agreeing to the network’s values).
  3. Once the applicant has been validated by the EC and has taken part in the introduction call, they are officially a Reset! member and will receive a welcome email containing all the necessary documents, links, and access details.
