Checkpoint Charly

Charly used to be the warehouse of a ladies’ boutique, a banana storage shed, and who knows what else. It was a warehouse like so many others in Bolognina, at 7/a Via del Rosaspina, a stone’s throw from Piazza dell’Unità. In 2011, the space was taken over by a small group of artists to transform it into a workspace divided into studios. Around this time, Charly also began opening its doors to group and solo exhibitions, hosting external artists as well. Charly is a collective of people whose aim is to promote and champion artistic research as a means of addressing complexity and establishing new ways of relating and working.
