Arroz Estúdios

Arroz Estúdios is a non-profit cultural organisation based in Beato, Lisbon, dedicated to fostering artistic expression, sustainability, and cross-cultural collaboration. Since its inception in 2018, Arroz has provided working space for artists to create and events space for them to showcase their work. In physical terms this represents a space in east Lisbon with 14 studios, a large outdoor courtyard with bar & pizzeria and an indoor high-spec venue for 500 people. With a mission to empower creatives, engage local communities, and build an internationally recognised cultural hub, Arroz Estúdios operates as a multi-disciplinary venue that hosts artist residencies, music events, and large-scale cultural festivals. Our initiatives emphasise accessibility, equity, and sustainability, ensuring that artists from all backgrounds have the resources and support they need to thrive. We have successfully led innovative projects such as Rare Effect, a groundbreaking crypto-art festival, and Planting A.I.R, a residency program supporting artists from low-income backgrounds in digital art & technology. Our commitment to inclusivity is reflected in our annual cultural programs celebrating International Women's Day, Pride Week, Black History Month, and other minority-led initiatives. Beyond our events, Arroz Estúdios actively engages with Lisbon’s creative and tech communities, forging partnerships that strengthen the independent music and arts ecosystem. Our extensive network within the European music industry allows us to advocate for sustainable resource-sharing models and ethical collaboration frameworks, aligning with our broader goal of fostering a resilient, future-proof cultural sector. As we transition into a new, long-term space, we continue to champion the values of community, sustainability, and innovation. We strive to create a secure, decentralised, and fair ecosystem for the creative industries—one that not only supports artists locally but also contributes to the global conversation on the future of culture and technology.
