Anténa Network

Anténa – network for independent culture is a national network that unites and supports independent cultural centres and organisations across Slovakia. Founded in 2009, its mission is to foster a vibrant, diverse, and sustainable cultural ecosystem by promoting collaboration, advocacy, and knowledge sharing within the independent arts sector. Currently Anténa has 25 full members and 8 associate members across the whole country. Except for 25 cultural centres, the network includes 3 residency centres, 3 theaters and 2 cinemas. The network serves as a platform for dialogue, innovation, and mutual support among members and external partners. Anténa plays a key role in strengthening the visibility of independent culture, advocating for better policies, and ensuring that independent voices contribute to public discourse. Its members represent a wide range of artistic disciplines, including performing arts, visual arts, music, literature, and interdisciplinary projects. Through capacity-building programs, networking events, and collaborative projects, Anténa empowers its members to develop their artistic practices, enhance their organisational capacities, and expand their audiences. The network also fosters international cooperation, creating opportunities for cross-border collaborations that enrich the Slovak cultural scene. Anténa is a member of the Trans Europe Halles network and has close ties with the Czech cultural network Nová síť. Committed to sustainability, inclusivity, and social impact, Anténa actively addresses contemporary societal challenges and promotes culture as a catalyst for positive change. By supporting both emerging and established cultural actors, the network ensures the long-term vitality of Slovakia’s independent cultural landscape.
